We were present at  the Redditch Festival in Morton Stanley Park on Saturday-Sunday, August 18-19. This was organised by Redditch Borough Council and, as we did at the festival last year, we had an information display and local history competitions. View presentation images

We hosted our ‘Heritage Open Day’ at Forge Mill Needle Museum on September 8th which, included free entry to the museum, guided tours of the Forge Mill Museum and the Bordesley  Abbey site, and other  local history related events. . View photo-gallery of the event.

As part our program of events  leading up to the 50th anniversary in 2014 of Redditch being designated as a New Town we are producing a sequence of annual exhibitions depicting the growth of the town at Forge Mill Needle Museum. The first of these covered the period from  Medieval beginnings to the end of the Great War. The exhibition included a timeline of local events, with corresponding national and international events, and included many images and artefacts rarely seen. The exhibition ran from Friday 26 October to Sunday 25 November 2012. .View presentation images.

An  exhibition produced by Tony Green, in association with Redditch Public Library, ran from the 28th May to 30th June 2012 to celebrate the  Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.  This used material from the library’s local history collection and was displayed in the Library’s ‘Gallery’  area. .View presentation images.

We were present at  the Council sponsored  Redditch Bandstand Music Festival ion the 22nd September. This was a successful event and quite a number of people visited our stand and showed an interest in the work of the Society.View presentation images
