Redditch History Resources

Forge Mill Needle Museum and Bordesley Abbey Visitor Centre the town’s museum. It covers the two most important events in the history of the town. It’s creation due to the abbey and the later development of needle manufacture and related industries.

Redditch Library, which is in the town centre, has books, photographs and audio visual Redditch history collections. Some are for lending and a number are reference only.

The Redditch History site has some useful ‘short histories’ of various aspects of Redditch history and useful timelines of the history of the town.

We have an on-going project to investigate, document and publish details of the Historic Sites in Redditch and there are also official agencies which list buildings and monuments in Redditch of important historical and architectural interest.

Here we have Links to a number of web sites which have useful information related to the history of the town.

There are a number of resources which are freely available concerning the history of Redditch. These include a national museum based in Redditch, the town library, directories of historic sites and useful web resources outside the Society’s own site.
